I spoke to Mineo recently. I mentioned I had previously been in a place very similar to this. He immediately asked me whether I'd spoken much with you.
[ she takes her glove off, showing off her glowing green number on the arm opposite the scales. she pauses as she looks at it before shaking it off ]
This is my number. I got it when I ended up on the train. It goes forever, and it never makes any stops. Each car is its own little pocket universe, and they pretty much exist for passengers to do whatever they want in them. It's reset when you leave, and cars can move at any time. [ she puts the glove back on ] Numbers start off low, but the better you are at the train, the higher it goes.

I was promised an opportunity to achieve something that would bring glory and renown to my House. The aim is not important - it is an advanced state of necromantic ability called Lyctorhood. I was brought to a fortress amongst the heirs of other great houses. We were told to make our home at the fortress, come to know one another, and work to devise new necromantic theorems. Eventually, we came to learn there were an intricate series of puzzles and challenges testing us in order for us to earn an opportunity to achieve Lyctorhood.
And then a Revenant began to hunt and kill us one after another.
[ okay, a lot of those words go kind of over her head, but she gets the gist of it? and the last bit makes her nod ]
Oh, yeah, a bunch of stuff on the train can kill you, and there's puzzles in some cars. This awful little robot has been hunting passengers down to try to get them off the train, too. He's new. [ she puts her hand on her chin ] So how long do you think until something dangerous shows up here?
That part I expected. You need to be specific if you want to get anything out of them, and what you can't, you need to figure out for yourself because it's part of the experience.
Especially when the only thing they've got for us to do in the meantime is indulge, and by indulge they mean have sex with each other, even though they know when we do it.

What strikes me is how many of their answers were what we ought to do "for now." There's another phase of this, and we must be prepared.
