... greed thing making a little more sense, but you should be allowed to be greedy for that?
[anyway! he'll go and grab some dishes and plates then. he doesn't know if grace knows how to use chopsticks so he'll grab an extra fork for her too.]
Let's dig in! The takoyaki is fresh so it's super hot - but it's tasty! Okonomiyaki's the classic crunchy kind, so make sure you get all the toppings and sauce.
I don't get the greed thing either, but I don't get sloth for you, so we're even.
[ she does not know how to use chopsticks! but she absolutely tries to copy him awkwardly with them first before trying the fork, because she wants to ]
What's it made of? [ she says that as she's already blowing air on the takoyaki to eat it, because she assumes it's nothing that would gross her out and also? it smells good. so ]
By working them off? Great look for you, by the way.
[ teasing. but yeah just showing someone your chopstick hand never helps and yet she is still trying to copy. determination ]
Oh, I've had octopus before. But it was sushi, so it was raw and the texture was so weird, I chucked it right in Simon's ponytail. It took him like, half an hour to notice. [ noms ] This one's good though! I guess it helps that it's cook. And that it's not old mall food.
[there's just a laugh at the wink, even if the tips of his ears turn a little pink. he's still a nerd.]
You definitely do. Hmm, let me go order some more - what do you normally eat on the train then, Grace-san? Is it sort of like scavenging and just cooking at a campfire...?
[all he knows about that is s'mores.... but he's ordering a tray of sushi and sashimi now. wow starving.]
I guess it's sort of like scavenging? But there's tons of cars that have food pre-made, it's just a matter of finding them. Like, one time, there was a wedding car with giant wedding cakes, so we took a bunch of that. There's a food pyramid car, that one lasted us a while. It's been a lot easier ever since we started using grappling hooks to skip cars so we can go back and forth, too. We're never starving or anything.
[ she says all this pensively while chewing on her takoyaki and then the stick? it's fine. there's nothing hellish about this ]
Not my whole life. I was still a kid when I boarded the train. [ she's yoinking liberally from the spread as well, still trying to master chopsticks ] And yeah, being here, of course I miss it. There's a lot of downsides to this place. [ she chews on something and swallows before rudely pointing at mineo with her chopsticks ] But some of the people here are alright.
Of course I'm really cool. [ first of all, important ] But you're sweet. Even if you act like you've never had anyone be nice to you in your life sometimes.
[ because all his friends are tsunderes, but she can still make fun of him ]
Well, if it ever starts being too weird, I can bully you like the others. [ she does bully. she's just not tsun about it. she pops a sushi in her mouth ] So you can feel more at home.

Hell yeah, sometimes I look at the selection on this thing and just get way too excited.
[he's got takoyaki, okonomiyaki, and some tempura dishes out??]
How do these look? Do you want me to queue anything up for you?
no subject
[ the train is a nightmare. she peers at the food ]
Hmm... Actually, I don't think I've tried any of those besides the tempura? [ or at least she doesn't recognize them ] So let's try it!

[honestly good for her - he's even going to show her the positioning of his hand for chopsticks like it'll help? and:]
There's octopus inside - and tempura flakes!! It's sooooo good.

[look he's comfortable enough to manage some easygoing banter with her, grinning - and grinning wider when she seems to like the sushi]
Haha...!! Maybe we can get some good sushi so you can actually enjoy the real deal? A full Japanese food tour.
no subject
[ winks? but also mineo bantering back is some good shit. ]
Sure, why not? I still don't think I'd like the super chewy stuff, but there's all this new stuff to try, and that's cool. Plus I've got a guide!

And you've been on the train your whole life, right? So you're pretty used to all of it by now....
[but he will have no qualms about having this food spread in front of them, picking at it himself with his chopsticks]
Do you miss it?

but then she points at him with her chopsticks and he's in the middle of putting some sushi in his mouth and he's pouting]
... yeah? I'm glad you and Takeru are getting along!
[HE DOESN'T EVEN
THINK IT'S ABOUT HIM]

Yeah, we are, but I meant you too, eyepatch. [ she flicks some rice at him, maturely ]

second it seems to click a second later that she's being nice to him so he flusters]
I - uh....! Really...?
[this NERD]
no subject
Why would I lie about it? I don't hang out with people I don't like, you know.
no subject
I - Yeah, I figure, and we're friends and all, but still...!
[it's still embarrassing... all his friends are tsunderes but.]
.... you're alright, too - well... way more than alright. You're really cool, Grace-san. I'm glad you're here, and that I got to meet you.
[how much of that is the effect this week and how much of it is normal mineo sincerity who can say]

I'm sure I have! But ah... well, even back at work, I was the youngest so it's just easy for people to bully their junior....
You're a lot more straightforward than all that. It's kinda - weird? Er - but in a good way....!
[he really does appreciate it even if it's embarrassing]
