Long doesn't even begin to cover it. I'm exhausted.

Me too. [ She's just going to pour herself a cup, disassociating a little. ] And I thought last week was tough..

At least we had the body last week. And it was just one.

Last week was sad. Today was... How were we supposed to figure that out? We did everything.

I don't know. I've never had to solve murders before. I don't know how people do it outside of stories.

Me neither.

... I kinda want to cry. But not because I'm sad.

... I'm frustrated, too. [ there's a twist to her mouth ] We don't know what's going on, or how to stop it, and the same thing is going to happen again next week.

[ She puts her cup down, her face falling into her hands. ]

And it could be three bodies next.

... It could be. What if it escalates every week?

[ She does sound a little teary now. ]

And we could just... end up dyin' here. Everyone that's gone, they had dreams but now they're just... dead.

[ well, grace will go closer and just hug yuel? ]

Things'll be okay. [ it's a little bit of an empty platitude, but listen ]

Yuel is definitely going to enjoy the hug for a moment, appreciating the closeness before she sits back, wiping at her eyes. ]

I know... [ she shifts her attention for a moment. ] What's the number on yer arm?

[ grace will keep petting her hair even after hug is done, thanks? but the question makes her look at her arm. it's still covered, but. ]

It's from the train. All passengers get one. It's a mark of strength; the higher your number, the stronger you are. That's why I'm the leader.

[ please pet her... she loves this ]

Really? [ looks immediately impressed ] Ain't that pretty amazin'? What did ya wish fer when ya came here?

[ preens still petting: ] I know, right? [ but she follows up a little more hesitant: ] I wanted to help a friend of mine. She's... in danger, right now, and I wanted to protect her.

[ a little vague but she shrugs and starts braiding yuel's hair ]

What about you?

[ Smiling, she pulls her legs up onto the couch so she can wrap her arms around them. ]

It's the same for me. One of my friends is in danger and I... just wanna make sure I'm strong enough to save her.

[ ... ]

If I die here, so will she.

... Yeah. Me, too.

[ it's quiet, and grace shakes her head before going right back to braiding ]

So that's why neither of us can die, right? We'll just have to make sure that's not an option. Either by helping find killers, or just being really good at protecting ourselves.

I'm pretty tough, but... We don't know what kinda help the killers have.

... If we weren't all put to sleep, I'd try to protect ya though.

If you're taking on an enemy of unknown size and strength, it's better to try and trap them first or try to confront them from a distance.

[ it's stated idly, but at Yuel's comment, she smiles a little, fond? ]

I'd try to protect you, too. [ she's finished one braid so she's doing a new one ] Wanna spend next Thursday with me, then? It's probably going to be me, Takeru and Mineo in the room this time, but I've got the loft part to myself.

[ Okay that's it. Yuel is very much enjoying Grace playing with her hair, but she has to turn around and pull her into a hug squeezing her for a moment before drawing back.

And pressing a kiss to her cheek. ]

... Thanks. I'll come find ya on Thursday then. Maybe... we can set up a trap or something. Protection for even while we're sleepin'.

[ oh. well, grace hugs back and laughs? she does not seem to mind the cheek kiss at all woop ]

Bring stuff you think can help? I've got a couple of things hoarded away already for that.

[ Yuel is in considerably better spirits now, and she nods like they're planning a conspiracy. ]

Got it. If Grell was killed out of self-defense, then we can outsmart any killers too.

Obviously. [ in a matter of fact tone, like? clearly? they're amazing? ignoring all facts ] It's just a matter of getting the upper hand on them. So long as we're prepared, we'll be fine.

That's right. We're only gonna get smarter and smarter from here.

[ thinks back to kaz-is-a-toblerone theory... are they getting smarter?

Anyway, it's time to cuddle, Yuel is going to brush her hair over her shoulder so that she doesn't disturb the brain before leaning against Grace's side. ]

[ they are absolutely not getting any smarter, but cuddles are fine? cuddles are great, and grace shrugs into it with a grin ]
